Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of ReStores, ensures the overall success and profitability of one ReStore. Primary areas of responsibility include meeting annual budget goals, supervising, training, motivating and evaluating subordinates, both paid and unpaid, and ensuring excellent customer service and a safe work environment and maintaining the facility.

Under the supervision of the Director of ReStores, ensures the overall success and profitability of one ReStore. Primary areas of responsibility include meeting annual budget goals, supervising, training, motivating and evaluating subordinates, both paid and unpaid, and ensuring excellent customer service and a safe work environment and maintaining the facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

General Duties:

  • Ensure budgeted monthly and annual net profit goals are met.
  • Enforce and update all policies and procedures so as to ensure a safe, customer and employee friendly, and profitable workplace.
  • Hire, train and manage ReStore associates in accordance with all affiliate and ReStore policies and procedures, including personnel, financial, safety, etc.
  • Manage annual performance goals for paid and volunteer staff and monitor results.
  • Ensure each staff person receives a formal annual performance evaluation.
  • Ensure that daily deposits are made and all financial controls are followed.
  • Oversee the scheduling of all store activities and events including staff schedules, volunteer schedules, and procurement of donated products.
  • Pick up donated items or make deliveries of purchased items as necessary.
  • Meet routinely with vendors, donors, various partner agencies, etc. and perform other off-site duties as necessary using your personal vehicle.
  • Ensure an effective onboarding for all staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure a thorough welcoming and safety briefings are conducted for all volunteer groups and non- regular volunteers.
  • Enforce and update as necessary pricing and inventory policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the donations, inventory, merchandising, pricing, product displays, and mark down processes are effective, efficient, professional and updated as needed.
  • Track sales data from Clover software to determine and promote in-demand items.
  • Ensure the condition of the exterior and interior of the ReStore are professional, attractive and safe and develop project plans for necessary maintenance and improvements in collaboration with the Director of ReStores.
  • Work closely with the Director of ReStores to implement a strategic plan to grow our donor base and contributions.
  • Develop relationships with other area ReStore Managers to identify best practices and programs that are mutually beneficial.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be supportive of the mission of Habitat for Humanity as a Christian organization yet welcoming of people of all religious beliefs.
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license and must have a driving record good enough to be insured by the company’s insurance provider.
  • Must have access to a vehicle and must be willing to drive said vehicle during work hours, as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience with at least one year in a management role and one year in retail sales.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic.
  • Knowledge of Micro Office Suite including Word, Excel, and POS software. Must be willing to learn other programs as needed.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, fax and copy machine and accurately make change.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and floor dollies. Forklift certification will be required.
  • Ability to handle and resolve verbally aggressive, potentially physically aggressive situations with wisdom, professionalism, and authority.
  • Ensure ReStore remains a supporter of the overall work of the affiliate.
  • Ability to speak Spanish, experience in construction or home improvement work, and knowledge of QuickBooks, PowerPoint and Publisher a plus.

Environmental Conditions and Requirements:

  • Retail/warehouse environment as well as on a delivery truck.
  • Exposed to a wide variety of weather conditions including temperatures below freezing and weather in excess of 100 degrees.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Must be willing to spend a majority of the day standing and/or moving. Work may require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, twisting and reaching.
