Different Ways to Volunteer

Picture of a volunteer workng

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Habitat for Humanity. Without volunteers we would be incapable of achieving our mission to provide homes for families in need. Here at Habitat for Humanity-Golden Empire we need dozens of volunteers every week to assist our small staff to do great things.

One great joy of Habitat for Humanity is the opportunity for people of various backgrounds to come together and put their good intentions and common ideals into action.

Home Construction

House Leader

The House Leader serves as the project manager for the construction of the home. Working in coordination with the Building Committee and the Construction Supervisor the House Leader assures that all support functions are in place for the building project.

Crew Leaders

Crew leaders are skilled or semi-skilled individuals who can understand a task and communicate how it is to be done to unskilled volunteers. They are responsible for directing volunteers in assigned tasks and monitoring quality control and workmanship.

ELF Crew

The "Elf Crew" works on site during the week to prepare the home for the following Saturdays’ work crew. The “”Elf Crew” is generally on site from 8am to 1 pm Tuesday through Friday.

Committee Involvement

Actual construction of houses is only one part of the Habitat operation. The variety of skills given on the Volunteer Interests Survey indicates the wide range of opportunities for your involvement.

The committees listed below are another way of supporting the Habitat mission. All of these committees are seeking active members.
